Scouting the Bucs
The Allatoona Buccaneers are coming off their final bye week after picking up their first region win the last time out. The Bucs are in the exact same position they were in last season, and could potentially host of playoff game if they win out. Their defense had their best outing last time out, holding Woodstock to 19 points. On the year, Allatoona is allowing 35 points per game. Senior linebacker Bryce Stack leads the defense with 61 total tackles. Offensively, the Bucs continue to rely on Xavier Rucker as the sophomore leads the team with 437 yards on the ground and two touchdowns along with 225 receiving yards and 4 receiving TDs. Camden Phillips, Deion Dobson and Aidan Guilbeau have combined to catch 55 passes for 561 yards and 3-TDs.
Scouting the Eagles
After a fast start, the Etowah Eagles have dropped their last three games. As we mentioned last week, the injury bug hit the Eagles in the worst way, taking out three of their top offensive threats including two quarterbacks. Over the course of the season, Etowah is averaging 32.2 points per game. However, in their last three contests, they are averaging just 11.6 points per game. The Eagles will need to find a way to get the ground game going with nfreshman running back Walker Hughes. While the offense will try to get the ground game going, the defense will need to hold the line. They had their second best outing of the season, allowing 17 points last week. On the year they are allowing 21.2 points per game.
Pundit's Pick
This game is essentially a playoff elimination game for both teams. We have to expect that Allatoona will be playing with more confidence after their win the last time out. Etowah will need to contain Allatoona’s Rucker and perhaps the defense might need to aid the offense with a score of their own. We believe this game will go down to the wire and with close games, Allatoona’s place kicker Gray Kelley gives the Bucs the slight edge. Allatoona by 2.
