Cherokee hosts Walton as the Warriors and Raiders try to separate themselves from the pack

Scouting the Warriors

The Cherokee Warriors dropped a game last week and fell into a three-way tie for second place in the region. The Warriors could not find the scoreboard in the second half and that proved to be the difference last week. Cherokee's explosive offense was held to their lowest output since their weather shortened Week-1 win. The Warriors are averaging 282.7 yards per game through the air and 158.9 yards per game on the ground. Quarterback Tanner Savasir has thrown for 1,979 yards and 19-TDs on the year. However, the team struggled a bit rushing the bal last week, as they were only able to gain 89 yards on the ground. Defensively, Cherokee is allowing 31 points per game. The Warriors have sacked opposing quarterbacks 9 times while Jayce Jones leads the defense with 5 interceptions on the season.

Scouting the Raiders

The Walton Raiders got back to their wining ways as they downed Marietta last week. Walton’s offense is averaging 27.8 points per game. The Raiders are balanced on offense, averaging 189.6 yards per game through the air and 145.7 yards per game on the ground. Quarterback Kaden Gilstrap has thrown for 1,327 yards and 11-TDs. Christian Ward (29 receptions, 492 yards, 6-TDs) and Lucas Farrington (18 receptions, 278 yards, 2-TDs) are the top receivers for the Raiders. Meanwhile, Farrington and Noriega Thompson have combined for 818 yards and 11-TDs as they lead the team in rushing. The Raiders defense is allowing 25.7 points per game. Linebacker Noah Lavallee leads the team with 84 total tackles while fellow linebacker Jake Thorner leads the team with 7 sacks.

Pundit's Pick

We anticipate another high scoring game this week as the Raiders visit Tommy Baker. We like the Warriors chances if they can jump out to an early lead over Walton. For Walton, they will need to stay in striking distance and make sure they are within a couple of scores in the second half. We like the Raiders on the road this week over the Warriors by 12.
