Scouting the Jackets

The Sprayberry Yellow Jackets will look to get back on track as they were upset last week in their region opener. Sprayberry had originally won their first three games and were touted as a team that could compete for a region title.. The Jackets are averaging 221 yards per game through the air and 125.8 yards per game on the ground. Quarterback Jaden Duckett has thrown for 876 yards and 9-TDs. The Jackets have completed passes to seven different receivers with Mark Manfred, (12 receptions, 296 yards, 2-TDs) and Jorden Edmonds, (15 receptions, 268 yards), leading the team. The Jackets ground game has been paced by senior Rayshawn Simpkins with 213 yards on 35 carries with 1-TD on the year. Defensively, the Jackets are allowing 13.5 points per game with Everett Currie leading the way with 28 total tackles while Jamarion Cooper leads the team with 5 sacks.

Scouting the Chiefs

The Sequoyah Chiefs ran their record to 4-0 last week with a win over the Riverwood Raiders. The Chiefs continued their formula of a balanced attack on their way to the victory. This season, Sequoyah is averaging 175 yards per game through the air and 229 yards per game on the ground. Running back Will Rajecki has tallied 511 yards and 6-TDs to lead the ground game. Junior signal caller Kolby Martin has thrown for 652 yards and 8-TDs. Eight different receivers have caught passes for the Chiefs, with Rajecki leading the way with 16 receptions for 165 yards and 3-TDs. Fellow junior Brooks Darling has caught 12 passes for 144 yards and 3-TDs. However, the most interesting story might be the development of a trio of tall targets in Noah Givens, Paul Przybylek and tight end Maddox Waller, as this group has combined for 19 receptions for 326 yards and 3-TDs. The Chiefs defense has sacked opposing quarterbacks 10 times and have forced seven turnovers.

Pundit's Pick

Sprayberry has a tall task as the try to defend home turf against a confident Sequoyah Chiefs team. The Jackets will have to buy Jaden Duckett time to find Manfred and Edmonds. Those two could cause matchup problems for the Chiefs secondary. However, we just haven’t seen the Chiefs really beat themselves. And we don’t believe they start this week. This game will be closer than you think, but we like the Chiefs by 12.
