Chiefs head to Lassiter looking to get back to their winning ways

Scouting the Trojans

The Lassiter Trojans were off last week and are looking to snap a three game losing streak. Lassiter’s offense has been predicated around the pass, as they are averaging 156.8 yards per game through the air and just 62.5 yards per game on the ground. Quarterback Mitch Seaman has thrown for 915 yards and 4-TDs. His top receivers have been Collins Price (34 receptions, 326 yards, 2-TDs), Levi Mundt (18 receptions, 242 yards, 1-TD) and Gavin Rose (11 receptions, 170 yards, 1-TD). Seaman is also the team’s leading rusher, with 126 yards on the ground. The Trojans offense is averaging 19.5 points per game. Defensively, Harston Harrison leads the team with 51 total tackles. The Trojans have sacked opposing quarterbacks 12 times, as Joseph Grice is the team leader with 4. The Lassiter defense is allowing 28.6 points per game. We also must mention that Lassiter has a veery dangerous kick off return man in Jude Galloway. The freshman has already returned 2 kickoffs for touchdowns this season and is averaging 33 yards per return.

Scouting the Chiefs

The Sequoyah Chiefs have had two week off to get the sour taste of defeat out of their collective mouths after they fell to Sprayberry last time out. It was the first loss of the season for the Chiefs and muddied up the early playoff picture in Region 6. The Chiefs were held to 17 points in the loss, their lowest output all season. Sequoyah is still averaging 33.4 points per game on the year. The Chiefs are averaging 152.6 yards per game through the air and 197.6 yards per game on the ground. Quarterback Kolby Martin has thrown for 714 yards with 8 passing TDs while completing 62.5% of his passes. Will Rajecki continues to lead the team and the county in rushing with 551 yards on the ground. He’s also added 6 rushing TDs, 3 receiving TDs and 1 passing TD. Sequoyah’s defense has sacked opposing quarterbacks 12 times and forced 8 turnovers on the year.

Pundit's Pick

The Chiefs will need to get the ground game going early to set the tone for this ballgame. We expect Will Rajecki to get plenty of opportunities against a Lassiter defense that has had trouble at times against the run. Meanwhile the Chiefs defense will need to bounce back and defend against the explosive plays which the Trojans have shown a penchant for from time to time. For Lassiter to pick up their first region win, their offense will have to find away to exploit Sequoyah’s young secondary. Additionally, they will have to find a way to get pressure on quarterback Kolby Martin and really slow down the ground game. That’s possible, but not probably. We like the Chiefs by four touchdowns.
