Scouting the Eagles
The Etowah Eagles will look to bounce back as they are back home in the friendly confines of the “Nest”. Etowah is averaging 40.6 points per game, but was held in check last week. Quarterback Xavier Mahoney has now thrown for 525 yards, rushed for 781 yards, and posted 121 receiving yards with 20-total TDs. Mahoney’s top targets have been Malone Pesquira and Mason Mancini. Mancini is the team’s top receiver with 20 catches for 375 yards and 3-TDs. Defensively, safety Vinny Pacini has been on of the top tacklers and has also added a couple of interceptions. Joshua Harding leads the team in sacks with 7.
Scouting the Grizzlies
The Creekview Grizzlies have won back to back games and seem to be clicking offensively. The Grizzlies are averaging 29.6 points per game and have scored over 30 points in three of their games this season. The offense has churned out 380.6 yards per game with over 240 of that coming by way of the ground game. Quarterback Austin Guest has thrown for 679 yards, rushed for 568 yards and accounted for 14-TDs. Cal Schubert and Michael Roach have combined for 29 receptions, 408 yards and 7-TDs. Defensively, the Grizzlies are allowing 17.2 points per game as Reed Anderson and Brant Freeman continue to pace the team in total tackles. Josh Tuten has two interceptions in the secondary including a pick-6.
Pundit's Pick
Etowah might be a little short handed as they’ve been bitten by the injury bug, but don’t fall asleep on them. This is still a dangerous team with Mahoney on the field. Expect Creekview to apply pressure early and often to make life difficult for the Etowah signal caller. Contrary to conventional wisdom, we expect this to be a close game, but like Creekview by 6.
