Grizzlies look for success on the road as they travel to face Riverwood

Scouting the Raiders

The Riverwood Raiders will return home on Friday in search of their first win of the season. The Raiders had a tough go of it last Friday against Sequoyah. Riverwood has been most effective on offensive through the air, averaging 157.5 yards per game passing and just 44.8 yards per game on the ground. The combination of quarterback A.J. Rahal and wide receiver Zach Stair has been fruitful for the Raiders. Rahal has thrown for 542 yards and 5-TDs while Stair has caught 20 passes for 463 yards and 5-TDs. It has been tough sledding on the ground for Riverwood, however, Ethan Collins and Jace Villaflor have combined for 139 yards and 1-TD. As a team, Riverwood is averaging 12.5 points per game while the defense is allowing 35 points per game. The Raiders have sacked opposing quarterbacks 6 times and Sophomore Lawrence Levine leads the team in total tackles with 25.

Scouting the Grizzlies

The Creekview Grizzlies bounced back from their week 3 defeat to put the screws to Lassiter with a 43 point victory. The Grizzlies responded last week with 499 yards of total offense. They exceeded their combined passing yards from the first 3 weeks with last week's performance as they tallied 236 yards and 3 passing TDs. On the year, Creekview is averaging 105.3 yards per game through the air and 214.3 yards per game on the ground. Quarterback Austin Guest has thrown for 414 yards, rushed for 293 yards and has accounted for 9-TDs. Mason Munn and Tristan McWilliams have combined for 476 yards and 4-TDs. Meanwhile, Jackson Stanley (15 receptions, 193 yards, 3-TDs), Nic Vacarro, (8 receptions, 91 yards) and Nathan Agyemang (5 receptions, 96 yards) are the top receivers. Defensively, Brant Freeman and Ryan Brooks continue to lead the team in tackles. Creekview is averaging 25 points per game, while the defense is allowing 19.

Pundit's Pick

If Riverwood is going to get their first region win, they will need to find a way to be more effective with the ground game. They will also need to force a few turnovers, and with rainy weather in the forecast, perhaps that will aid their efforts. For Creekview, it’s more of the same, they will look to impose their will with the ground game and be opportunistic through the air. We believe Creekview is a little deeper, and that will be the difference in the second half. Grizz by 21.
