Scouting the Warriors
The Sequoyah Chiefs enter this week’s matchup fresh off a dominant rivalry win over Cherokee, where they hung 55 points in the first half and never looked back. Seven different Chiefs found the end zone, showcasing the depth and versatility of their offense. While the usual stars delivered, it was Jack Ripley who stole the show with a highlight-reel performance — making acrobatic catches, hauling in two touchdowns, and racking up 78 receiving yards.
Running back Will Rajecki continued his steady production with 80 yards and two scores in just one half of work, while veteran quarterback Kolby Martin — now 26–9 as a starter — threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns. Ripley and Maddox Waller have emerged as reliable receiving options for Martin to go alongside Brooks Darling, making Sequoyah’s offense far less one-dimensional and reducing its reliance on Rajecki’s ground game.
The Chiefs’ defense and special teams were equally impressive, forcing three turnovers on special teams and swarming to the ball all night. Sequoyah has not allowed a touchdown in six straight quarters, with the front seven keying on the run and setting the tone early in games.
Scouting the Longhorns
The Kell Longhorns also recorded a shutout last week, blanking Alpharetta while continuing their blistering start. Kell has scored 80 points in two games and, like Sequoyah, has surrendered only 21 points all season. Their offense revolves around dynamic running back Quinterrius “Moonie” Gipson, who exploded in Week 1 with 194 rushing yards on 16 carries and three total touchdowns. Gipson has rushed for 317 yards and 4-TDs.
Dual-threat quarterback Kaleb Narcisse has been just as impressive, completing 67.6% of his passes for 307 yards and six touchdowns while adding 70 yards rushing. Narcisse has no shortage of weapons, with receivers Brayden Rouse (a Tennessee commit at linebacker but also an offensive threat) with 10 receptions for 134 yards and 3-TDs, Nathan Agyemang, Donte Grant, (12 receptions, 132 yards, 1-TD), as well as Nathan Ageymang, Brock Burrus, and Kamoni Adams.
Pundit's Pick
This game features two of the area’s premier running backs — Rajecki for Sequoyah and Gipson for Kell — and will likely hinge on which ground attack can control the tempo. The trench battle will be crucial: Sequoyah’s offensive line must continue to create lanes for Rajecki’s patient running style, while Chiefs defenders Matthew Matz and Noah Normile will need to be disruptive to slow Gipson. Linebacker Drew Williams could be an X-factor in run support, as his ability to read and fill gaps may determine how well Sequoyah contains Kell’s balanced offense.
Expect this to be a physical, four-quarter fight. Both teams are disciplined and explosive, making big plays likely on both sides. In the end, Kell’s deeper arsenal of offensive weapons gives them a slight edge.
Prediction: Kell by 4.
