Rome vs River Ridge: Upset minded Knights looking to conquer Rome

Scouting the Wolves

The Rome Wolves were off last week as they ready themselves for the stretch run of the regular season and post season. Rome is in the driver's seat for the Region 6-6A title. They are averaging 46.8 points per game and are holding opponents to 8.2 points per game. Their defense has recorded two shutouts on the season and in region play over the last two years have surrendered a total of 39 points in 9 games including four shutouts. Defensive standouts for Rome include Justin Terrell, Trey Adams and linebacker Jaedon Harmon. The Wolves offense has been spearheaded by quarterback Reece Fountain, running backs Chance Arthur, Javarius McDearmont and receivers D.K. Daniel, Toot Stallings and Nic Hester.

Scouting the Knights

The River Ridge Knights are also coming off of a bye week after back to back physical and emotional games. The Knights will look to get back on track this week, especially on the ground as the rushing attack was stymied a bit their last time out. Ethan Spector was effective through the air in his last game with three touchdown tosses. Grant Hollier, Thomas Tompsen and Sam Vincent have emerged as some of the top receivers in Cherokee County. If the Knights are going to have success offensively, a lot of that will depend on the offensive line anchored by Daniel Green and John Faletra. Defensively, linebackers Brandon Burdette, Wyatt McCarty, Will Hughes and Brice Tomlinson will be tasked with slowing down a potent Rome offense. Expect for Andrew Hand and the rest of the Knights secondary to stay busy defending the talented Rome receivers.

Pundit's Pick

River Ridge will have to be sound running the football if they are going to have a chance to pull the upset on the road. While they’ve shown an ability to run the ball, we just don’t think they’ll be able to have the success they’ve enjoyed earlier in the year on the ground. We like Rome by 4 touchdown.
