Scouting the Wolverines
The Woodstock Wolverines are back in action looking to secure a playoff spot for the first time since 2017. Last time out, Woodstock fell to Region rival Sequoyah, but have had an extra week to get that taste out of their mouth. Even with their last result, the Wolverines are averaging 31.3 points per game and allowing 17.1. Woodstock has a balanced attack on offense, averaging 180.6 yards per game through the air and 197.4 yards per game on the ground. Sophomore Graham Burmeister has thrown for 1,404 yards and 14-TDs. His top receivers are Chase Colina (36 receptions, 361 yards and 5- TDs) and brother Drew Burmeister (18 receptions, 327 yards, 3-TDs). Isaiah Payton is one of the county rushing leaders, with 847 yards and has also added 6-TDs on the ground. Drew Burmeister also leads the defesnse with 81 total tackles. The Wolverines have sacked opposing quarterbacks 19 times and have forced 13 turnovers.
Scouting the Raiders
The Riverwood Raiders are back in action after picking up their first win of the season last time out. The Raiders had their best offensive outing, scoring 24 points and also had their best defensive performance of the year as they defeated Lassiter. The Raiders are averaging 10.5 points per game while the defense is allowing 35.7 points per game. A.J. Rahal leads the way for the Raiders offense as he’s thrown for 644 yards and 5 - TDs through six games. The Raiders have struggled a bit to run the football as they have only rushed for 247 yards through their first six games. .
Pundit's Pick
The Raiders will hav ether hands full as they have to find a way to stop the Wolverines ground game. But this Woodstock team is not a one trick pony, as we have outlined earlier. Even if the Raiders can limit the Wolverines ability to run, Woodstock’s crafty quarterback can give them problems. Woodstock’s balance and depth is the reason that we like the Wolverines by 29 this week.
