Scouting the Grizzlies
The Creekview Grizzlies have bounced back with two resounding victories going into the bye week. Creekview finds themselves in great position to clinch a playoff spot, but still cannot overlook any of their remaining opponents. The Grizzlies have been effective on the ground, rushing for over 1,070 as a team this season and reaching the 200 yard mark in four of their five games. Mason Munn leads the Grizzlies three-headed rushing attack with 470 yards. Quarterback Austin Guest has rushed for 339 yards while senior back Tristan McWilliams has added 141 yards. The trio has also accounted for 10 rushing touchdowns. Guest has thrown for 568 yards and 7-TDs. Jackson Stanley has been the leading receiver with 21 catches for 235 yards and 4-TDs. The Grizzlies defense is allowing 16.6 points per game, and in their four victories, have not allowed more than 20 points in a game. Linebacker Brant Freemen leads the team in total tackles (50) and sacks (4). The Grizzlies have sacked opposing quarterbacks 11 times.
Scouting the Wolverines
The Woodstock Wolverines are looking to build on their momentum coming out of the break after they throttled Lassiter 37-3 their last time out. Woodstock is a vasty improved team from a season ago, as they are averaging 163.4 yards per game through the air and 212.8 yards per game on the ground. The big difference this season for Woodstock has been their ability to run the ball as Isaiah Payton has answered the bell. He leads the Wolverines with 511 yards and 3-TDs. Quarterback Graham Burmeister has also added 264 yards and 4 rushing TDs. Burmeister has also thrown for 776 yards and 9-TDs. Chase Colina leads all Wolverine receivers with 28 receptions for 255 yards and 3 receiving TDs. Defensively, Woodstock’s allowing just 12.8 points per game. The Wolverines have sacked opposing quarterbacks 15 times this season as Cooper Price leads the way with 7.
Pundit's Pick
This is a pivotal game for both teams. A Creekview win would really put them in prime position to make it back to the post season and keep their region title hopes alive, while Woodstock needs the win to keep their playoff hopes intact. And while Woodstock wouldn’t be eliminated from the playoffs with a loss, they still have tough games against Sprayberry and Sequoyah later this season. Woodstock can pull of the road win if they are able to limit turnovers and stuff the Creekview ground attack. Meanwhile, Creekview will also have to slow down Woodstock’s improved rushing attack. Creekview has been good at home this season, but this Woodstock game could be a trap for the Grizzlies coming off the break. We do like the Grizzlies at home, but this one might be closer than some think. Grizz by 8.
