Creekview vs Cambridge: Who has the real advantage in the "bear brawl"?

This is the NGSN game of the week. Tune into the Station Head App to listen to Will Cooper, Art Mosley, Dave Garner, Zakk Gross and Ronnie Cooper bring you all of the action from the Grizzly den. Pregame coverage starts at 7:00pm

Here's a tutorial on how to join us for all of the action: https://fb.watch/mth1a8cWYu/

Scouting the Grizzlies

The Creekview Grizzlies will be looking to bounce back after missing the post season a year ago. The Grizzlies return dual threat junior quarterback Austin Guest who threw for 1,514 yards and 6-TDs and rushed for 494 yards and 5-TDs a year ago. Guest will have some new running mates in the backfield as Nigel Agyemang, Mason Munn, Grayson Davis and Tristan McWilliams will headline a deep but inexperienced backfield. The backs will have the benefit of running behind an experienced line anchored by UNC commit Andrew Rosinski and Pearson Sears. Jackson Stanley is a rising star at receiver and should give Guest a reliable target in key situations. Defensively, Reed Anderson returns as the teams leading tackler. The Grizzlies have plenty of experience along the defensive line in Griffin Jane, Beckett Singleton and Trey Thomas.

Scouting the Bears

The Cambridge Bears are coming off consecutive 2nd round playoff appearances. They also return their All-Region quarterback, Preston Clemmer, who passed for 1,148 yards and 17-TDs. Clemmer also completed 65% of his passes. He will also have all region selections Gabe Smith and Gabe Chigwere along the offensive line to help keep his jersey clean. The big question mark for the Bears are the other skill positions. They will need to replace their top two rushers and their top four receivers from a year ago. It’s not much prettier on the defensive side of the ball as the Bears lose a lot of experience but do return the teams second leading tackler form 2022 in Cole Giacobbe.

The Skinny

Cambridge will be looking to make it three straight wins over Creekview when they visit the Grizzly Den on Friday. If that is going to happen, some of these young players will need to grow up quick. Having an experienced quarterback like Clemmer should help steady the ship for the Bears, but Creekview is more experienced, especially on defense, and we believe that will be the difference. We like the Grizzlies by 13.
