Etowah vs Centennial: Eagles offense ready to soar once again

Scouting the Eagles

The Etowah Eagles remained undefeated after once again putting up big numbers on offense. Reece Wehr got back on track, rushing for 156 yards and a TD. Through three games Wehr is up to 409 yards and 3-TDs. Meanwhile, Xavier Mahoney was up to his old tricks, rushing for 237 yards, passing for 101 yards and accounting for 6 total TDs. Combine Mahoney with fellow QB Jack Strickland and this Etowah offense is almost impossible to defend. The duo has passed for 708 yards and 6-TDs. We probably don’t give enough credit to the guys up front, but the offensive line has been fantastic for Etowah. (Tate Nelms, Terrell Mensah, Dylan Nichols, Slade Ponder and Jacob Cassell). On the season, Etowah has rushed for over 850 yards.

Scouting the Knights

The Centennial Knights are coming off of a bye week and are in search of their first win of the season. It’s been tough sledding early going this season as the Knights have run up against a couple of buzzsaws. Palmer Sperier has been the workhorse for the Knights at running back and has also shown his versatility as a reliable receiver out of the backfield. Myson Cooper has also show his reliability at receiver as he is one of the leading pass catchers for Centennial. In two games, the Centennial offense is averaging 10.5 points per game while allowing 52.

Pundit's Pick

We have to think the Etowah is primed for another big game offensively. Centennial is just outmanned at most of the skilled positions. If the Knights are going to get their first win of the season, they’ll have to find a way to establish the run game. Even then, Etowah has too much offense. Eagles by five touchdown.
