Knights and Wolverines tangle in battle for best of Woodstock

Scouting the Knights

The River Ridge Knights scored another big victory last Friday night as they crossed the 40-point threshold for the first time this season. In their last two outings, River Ridge is averaging 40 points per game. Quarterback Ethan Spector has thrown for 528 yards and 9-TDs. Five of his touchdown passes came against Allatoona last week. We have spoken before about River Ridge’s depth at receiver with he likes of Grant Hollier, Thomas Thompsen and Sam Vincent. However, Michael Olifers and Camden Cox have proven to be reliable pass catchers out of the backfield. Over the last two games, River Ridge is allowing a shade under two touchdowns per game.

Scouting the Wolverines

The Woodstock Wolverines are off to their best start since 2014. Coatch Devine and the upstart Wolverines have seemingly flipped the script on a few disappointing seasons. The Wolverines have had an offensive outburst, averaging 41.3 points per game while their defense is allowing 5.6 points per game, and has not allowed more than a touchdown in their first three contests. Offensive leaders for Woodstock include quarterback Graham Burmeister (458 passing yards, 7-TDs), Chase Colina (18 receptions, 177 yards, 3-TDs) and Isaiah Payton (313 rushing yards 2-TDs, 6.8 yards per carry).

Pundit's Pick

Woodstock has put up some impressive numbers, but we do have to bring in to account their strength of schedule. This will be the best defense Woodstock has faced to date. For River Ridge, they will need to resist the urge to be complacent against a team they have dominated the last few meetings. This has the potential to be a high scoring battle. We believe the River Ridge secondary will be able to slow down the Woodstock passing attack. We like the Ridge by 10.
