Scouting the Wolverines

The Woodstock Wolverines have already secured a playoff berth, but there’s still work to be done as they host the streaking Sprayberry Yellow Jackets in the regular season finale. Woodstock can climb from the No. 4 seed to No. 3 with a victory, while Sprayberry needs a win — and a little help from Creekview — to capture a second straight region title.

Woodstock has been one of the most balanced teams in the region this season, averaging 25.8 points per game with 203.8 passing yards and 159 rushing yards per outing. Junior quarterback Graham Burmeister has led the way, throwing for 1,788 yards, rushing for 687, and accounting for 26 total touchdowns. His top weapon, Ryland Hubbard, has been steady with 64 receptions for 680 yards and seven scores, while the backfield duo of Trace Washington and Xavier Murphy has combined for 653 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Defensively, Woodstock allows just 17.3 points per game, anchored by Tyler Howard (56 tackles) and Washington (49 tackles). Up front, Djibril Ba and Carter Clay have been disruptive, combining for 20.5 tackles for loss, including Ba’s 8.5 sacks. The Wolverines have also forced 14 turnovers, a number that could loom large in a game likely to hinge on possession battles.

Scouting the Jackets

Sprayberry has been on a roll, winning four straight and averaging 41.6 points per game over the stretch. The Jackets’ offense has found its rhythm on the ground, eclipsing the 300-yard rushing mark twice this season.

Quarterback Jaden Duckett has been electric, throwing for 1,306 yards and 18 touchdowns while adding 505 rushing yards and four more scores. He’s supported by a deep backfield featuring Jrue Keeling (528 yards, 8 TDs), Kealan Jones (386 yards, 5 TDs), and Ian Hulbert (380 yards, 5 TDs). Through the air, Jordan Edmonds (516 yards, 9 TDs) and Kobe Lewis (434 yards, 5 TDs) give Duckett reliable big-play options.

Defensively, Jack Trout leads the team with 63 tackles, and Gabe Clark anchors the front line with 15 tackles for loss and seven sacks.

Keys to the Game

For Woodstock:

  • Contain Duckett’s Mobility: The Wolverines must keep the elusive Duckett in the pocket and limit his ability to extend plays with his legs.

  • Protect Burmeister: Sprayberry’s front seven is active and physical; giving Burmeister time to operate will be critical.

  • Win the Turnover Battle: Woodstock has forced 14 turnovers this season — they’ll need one or two more to swing momentum at home.

For Sprayberry:

  • Establish the Ground Game Early: The Jackets’ multi-headed rushing attack is their identity. If they control the line of scrimmage, they can dictate tempo.

  • Limit Burmeister’s Explosiveness: Keeping him from breaking contain and making plays outside the pocket will be key.

  • Stay Disciplined on Defense: Woodstock thrives on balance; avoiding penalties and big plays will help Sprayberry keep control.

Pundit's Pick

This matchup features two of the region’s best dual-threat quarterbacks — Burmeister and Duckett — both capable of carrying their teams in big moments. Expect a physical, playoff-style battle with plenty of fireworks on both sides.

Prediction: Sprayberry by 8.
