Knights host Greyhounds with plenty of fireworks in store

Scouting the Knights

The River Ridge Knights extended their win streak to three games with a big win over Woodstock last Friday. During that win streak, River Ridge is averaging 41.6 points per game and allowing 13.6 points per game. The Knights have used their passing attack to power there offense as quarterback Ethan Spector has now thrown for 713 yards and 13-TDs on the year. Grant Hollier, (17 receptions, 245 yards, 6TDs) and Thomas Thompson, (who in the first three games has 12 receptions receptions, 180 yards and 4-TDs), lead the Knights aerial assault. River Ridge has been able to run the ball from time to time this season, as they have mainly relied on Micah Pugh, (58 yards, 1-TD), Michael Olifers (76 yards, 1-TD and quarterback Spector (116 yards, 1-TD). Linebacker Wyatt McCarty leads the team in total tackles with 24, including 7 for loss. The Knights have combined to sack opposing quarterbacks 6 times on the season.

Scouting the Greyhounds

The Pope Greyhounds also got off to a fast start in region play as they downed Sprayberry last week. Certainly much fuss has been made over the Greyhounds star wide receiver John Stuetzer, as he leads all of Georgia in receiving, and rightfully so. However, this is a balanced offense, averaging 191 yards per game through the air and 208.5 yards per game on the ground. Runing backs, J.T. Way (365 yards, 1-TD), Ethan Alterman (275 yards, 1-TD) have helped pace the Greyhounds. We mentioned Stuetzer as the team’s leading receiver and leads Cass 5A in receiving with 638 yards, while senior quarterback Hudson Deline has thrown for 722 yards and 10 - TDs with no interceptions.

Pundit's Pick

All of Pope’s games this season have had a team score at least 30 points. We believe that will be the case this week, and we won't be surprised if both teams are over that mark. For Pope, their defense will need to have a good showing to shut down the River Ridge offense. Meanwhile, River Ridge will need to find a way to slow down John Stuetzer, something no team has been able to do this season. Expect plenty of fireworks on Friday, but River Ridge has a few more weapons on offense and we expect that to be the difference. Knights by 7.
