Scouting the Chiefs
The Sequoyah Chiefs scored one of the biggest victories in program history as they knocked off perennial power Kell last week. The Chiefs are averaging 33.3 points per game, as Junior quarterback Kolby Martin has thrown for 403 yards and 4-TDs. Meanwhile, the Chiefs ground game has relied once again on Will Rajecki, (379 yards, 6 total TDs), Ean Marria, (171 yards through the first 4 games). The Chiefs also have been able to get production out of their receivers, including Rajecki (8 receptions, 89 yards through two games) and Brooks Darling, (6 receptions, 52 yards, 1-TD, through two games). Sequoyah has also gotten soled production from receivers Noah Givens, Paul Przybylek and tight end Maddox Waller.
Scouting the Raiders
The Riverwood Raiders are looking to get their program back on the right track. as they are still looking for their first win of the season. The Raiders have had success through the air offensively. Sophomore quarterback A.J. Rahal has shown he can lead this team with his 542 passing yards and 5-TDs. His primary receiver has been Zach Stair, who has caught 20 passes for 463 yards and 5-TDs. The Raiders rely heavily on the pass, as they are averaging just 40 yards per game on the ground. Defensively, Riverwood is allowing 30 points per game.
Pundit's Pick
For Sequoyah, this game seems to come down to execution. Can they stay focused and not have a letdown from last week’s emotional high of defeating Kell. Expect for the Chiefs to feed Riverwood a steady dose of Ean Marria and Will Rajecki. Meanwhile, Riverwood will have to slow down the Chiefs pass rush. If they can do that, Riverwood might find time to find Stair running free in the secondary. We beleive that is possible, but not probable. We like the Chiefs by 27.
