Woodstock vs Hiram: Wolverines looking to take the sting out of the Hornets

Scouting the Wolverines

The Woodstock Wolverines will be on the road this week as they face the Hiram Hornets. Woodstock ran into a buzzsaw last week as Osborne came calling. The Wolverines were able to find some success through the air. This week, expect them to keep the Hiram defense off balance by trying to establish the run. Peyton Lynch will lead this young offense again as he’s beginning to establish rapport with receiver Luke Renninger and Elijah Wadsworth. Defensively, we expect for Drew Burmeister to continue to make plays as he picks up where he left out last season.

Scouting the Hornets

The Hiram Hornets were able to exact a measure of revenge on county rival Paulding County last week as they went for the shutout. If you are unfamiliar with this Hiram team, they return several starters from last years team including a couple of the best offensive linemen in Class 5A (Clinton Richards and Jameson Riggs). If that wasn’t enough, the also return preseason All-State selection tight end Walter Matthews, defensive back Chase Tyler and kicker Oliver Castenada. The Hornets offense will be extremely difficult to defend as they return almost all of their offensive skill players from a team that averaged 37.3 points per game last season.

Pundit's Pick

Woodstock certainly has their hands full again this week. Hiram is filled with enough talent to challenge for a region title in 7-5A. The Wolverines are making strides but Hiram has too many pieces and they have the benefit of playing at home this week. We like the Hornets by four touchdowns.
