Woodstock hosts Lassiter as both squads look for their first region win

Scouting the Wolverines

The Woodstock Wolverines return home looking for better fortunes this Friday night. Woodstock, who was averaging 41.3 points per game prior to last week, will need to find a way to get the offense back on track, as they were held to 14 points last week. The Wolverines were able to tally 280 yards of total offense, but that was off their 355 yard per game pace. Woodstock has used a balanced offensive attack, with 161.8 yards passing and 193.8 yards per game on the ground. Senior Isaiah Payton leads the team with 406 yards rushing and 2-TDs. He’s also caught 8 passes for 117 yards and 1-TD. Chase Colina leads the team in receiving with 25 catches for 214 yards and 3-TDs. The Wolverines defense has sacked opposing quarterbacks 12 times and forced 8 turnovers.

Scouting the Trojans

The Lassiter Trojans are also looking for a rebound game as they were held to 20 points after averaging 30.3 in their first three games. The Trojans will need to shore up their defense as they allowed 499 yards of total offense last week. On the year, Lassiter is allowing 27 points per game and has sacked opposing quarterbacks 9 times. The Trojans have also forced 7 turnovers this season. Harston Harrison leads the team in total tackles (30, 7-TFLs), while Joseph Grice leads the team with 4 sacks. Mitch Seamen continues to spearhead the offense as he leads the team in passing (635 yards, 4-TDs) and rushing, (155 yards, 1-TD). Collins Price has been the go-to receiver for Seaman, with 25 receptions 270 and 2-TDs. Perhaps one of the most dangerous weapons for Lassiter is Jude Galloway. The freshman is one of the state leaders in kick off return yardage and scored on a kick off return last week against Creekview.

Pundit's Pick

Neither of these teams can afford to go 0-2 with matchups against more of the region heavyweights still on the schedule. Woodstock, will need to get back to their ground game. While Lassiter will need to find a way to force a few turnovers. The biggest difference might be Woodstock’s versatility on offense in this game. We expect this game to be a little closer than some might expect, but we like the Wolverines by 9.
